Lincoln County Bird Club
        Ruidoso, NM


  Founded in 1994 by Anita Powell, the Lincoln County Bird Club has

regular field trips of varying lengths and social activities that promote the

health of the environment and create public environmental awareness.

Our group is fortunate to have talented people that are able to offer

educational programs. 


The annual membership dues are $15.00 per family or
$10.00 per single member
. New members are welcome.

Below is a list of some of the activities that L.C.B.C. has

organized and participated in during the past years:


  • Constructed the wildlife observation platform in Capitan, NM.

  • Created the first bird species checklist for Ruidoso area. This was published by the US Forest Service.

  • Documented new resident species with NM state ornithologist for the Northern Sacramento Mountains area.

  • Donated books to Ruidoso and Capitan libraries.

  • Sponsored speakers including Joan Day-Martin, hummingbird bander, and Hawks Aloft organization.

  • Provided information about birds and birding to visitors and local residents.

  • Taught bird watching classes for the public.

  • Assisted in wildlife classes for Eastern New Mexico University.

  • Presented programs for local organizations and schools.

  • Participated in Christmas Bird Count program.

  • Participated in Keep Ruidoso Beautiful clean-up days.

  • Made monetary contributions to Bitter Lake NWR and Bosque del Apache NWR.

  • Organized overnight field trips to locations that include AZ, Carlsbad, Elephant Butte.

  • Planned monthly field trips.

  • "Pot Luck" dinners
