------ A Message from The President ------
Hi, everyone. We have scheduled a meeting for 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 15, at the Smokey Bear Ranger Station on Mechem Drive in Ruidoso. We need to determine a date for this month's field trip to Bosque del Apache, and plan field trips and other activities for the coming months.

This also would be a good opportunity to pay your 2015 dues, if you have not done so already. I hope those of you who never paid 2014 dues will consider re-joining during 2015. Individual dues still are only $10. If you cannot attend the meeting, please contact our treasurer, Earl Gremillion to pay your 2015 dues.

All members who are delinquent should send a check made payable to LCBC and mail it to Earl Gremillion and he will deposit your check in the bank. ($10/ individual and $15/couple).

G.    BIRDING TRIPS

1.    Bitter Lakes Bird Outing – Saturday, November 8th will be the next planned Bird Outing. Members should plan to meet at the Beall’s parking lot at 8:00 AM to arrange transportation/ carpooling. Please plan to bring your own sandwiches and refreshments.

2.    The Festival of Cranes to be held at the Bosque Del Apache is scheduled for November – 13-16 this year. The Club will not sponsor any Bird Outing there this year. Each member is advised to make their own arrangements if they want to attend the Festival.

H.    DECEMBER POT-LUCK

Sue and Bob Macfarlane have agreed to have a December Pot-Luck at their home this year. The Pot-Luck will be on Sunday, December 7th.  More details will be provided to the members next month.

It was unanimously agreed by the members present at the meeting for the Club to provide the meat for the Pot-Luck. This is in lieu of the fact we had to cancel the LCBC annual picnic twice during the summer due to inclement weather.

I.    CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT
This year’s Christmas Bird Count will tentatively be held in 2015. Saturday, January 3 rd is presently scheduled for the Count. Anita Powell will hopefully volunteer to head up the Count as in the past. More details will follow.

J.    NEW BUSINESS  - 2015

1.    Lions Club Gun Show – LCBC Sponsor a Booth/ Table – during the Memorial Day weekend the Lion’s Club sponsor a Gun Show that includes several other items of interest and presenters. The members agreed that the Club should explore the possibilities of sponsoring a both to help promote new membership in 2015. Discussion included having LCBC brochures, logo decals, patches, caps, etc. to promote new membership with members manning the booth over the weekend.

2.    Cara- Cara Bird Presentation – This presentation has been provided in the past by an expert in Albuquerque who owns Cara-Cara birds. The program has been a very good event that draws a number of attendees, including members to observe the birds and inter-act with them during the presentation. This would have to be planned in advance and probably the Ruidoso library could be used as the venue.

3.    Bird Outings – new outings/ bird trips need to be discussed and planned for 2015.

4.    College Classes – This was another suggestion for 2015. A knowledgeable Bird Club member(s) would have to come forth and volunteer to plan and present a Bird presentation to the Class at ENMU.  We have done this before, but will require special planning and preparation.

NOTE: A short business meeting will be held at the December Pot-Luck to discuss the topics discussed
above and any other issues that may be presented. 2015 Dues will also be collected.

K.    MEETING ADJOURN
The next scheduled meeting will be held at the December Pot-Luck, December 7, 2014. This will be a very short meeting and will concentrate on our 2015 agenda items and dues collection.
Having no other business, the President called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jean Gremillion made a motion to adjourn, Earl Gremillion 2nd the motion. All members agreed in the affirmative at 11:45 AM.
